About Capital Markets Authority (CMA)
The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) is a statutory body established in 1996 under the Capital Markets Authority Act (Cap 84) to promote, develop, and regulate Uganda’s capital markets industry.
CMA is governed by a Board of Directors appointed by the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development and works to ensure that securities markets operate in an orderly, fair, and efficient manner while protecting investors.
Job Purpose
The Research & Market Development Officer will support the growth of Uganda’s capital markets by transforming complex data into actionable insights and conducting research that supports market development and regulatory improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct gap analyses and surveys to identify bottlenecks in Uganda’s capital markets and propose data-driven reforms.
Undertake action-based research demonstrating the benefits of market-based financing to stakeholders.
Identify opportunities for new capital market instruments to deepen and diversify the Ugandan market.
Develop evidence-based research papers supporting the evolution and reform of regulatory frameworks.
Monitor global technological trends to ensure Uganda’s capital markets remain competitive and secure.
Communicate research findings to intermediaries, industry associations, and professional bodies.
Perform any other duties assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
Upper Second-Class or First-Class Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university in:
Economics
Statistics
Commerce
Business Administration (Finance)
Or a related field
Experience
At least 1 year of relevant work experience, preferably in the capital markets industry.
Demonstrated interest or knowledge in capital markets is required.
Required Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong presentation and facilitation skills
Ability to interpret legislation and policy
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Team player with high integrity and professionalism
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
