SNV Uganda is recruiting a Project Advisor – School Feeding Programme to provide technical leadership and implementation support for a multi-year school feeding initiative aimed at strengthening Uganda’s national school feeding system through community-led models.
Project Overview
The programme supports the Government of Uganda and WFP in developing a sustainable, parent-led school feeding model. It focuses on strengthening systems, building capacity, and improving coordination across schools, districts, and communities without directly providing meals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Implementation & Technical Support
Lead implementation of school feeding activities in Gulu and Koboko districts.
Provide technical support to district governments and implementing partners.
Conduct training, develop manuals, and support demonstration activities.
Oversee progress of local implementing partners and ensure quality delivery.
2. Stakeholder Coordination
Liaise with district local governments, schools, and community structures.
Engage with school feeding committees, NGOs, government, and private sector actors.
Manage partnerships and align expectations across all stakeholders.
3. Planning & Coordination
Facilitate annual and quarterly work planning.
Support implementation of district and national school feeding workplans.
Organize joint supervision, monitoring visits, and policy engagement activities.
4. Community Structures Development
Establish and strengthen district and school-level school feeding committees.
Support formation of village food groups and community engagement structures.
Integrate school feeding indicators into district education monitoring systems.
5. Data Collection & Research
Support baseline studies and annual verification exercises.
Contribute to action research and data collection for programme improvement.
6. Market & Systems Strengthening
Identify market opportunities and challenges affecting school feeding systems.
Support linkages between schools, suppliers, and food producers.
Facilitate agreements between schools and suppliers.
7. Reporting & Documentation
Prepare technical project reports.
Mentor local partners in report writing and documentation.
Ensure timely submission of quality progress reports.
Qualifications & Experience
Master’s degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Agriculture, or related field.
At least 5+ years of experience in school feeding programmes.
Strong understanding of Uganda’s school feeding policies and systems.
Experience working with district local governments and communities.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
