GOAL Uganda is seeking a Market Development Officer to support the implementation of the Integrated and Sustainable Production for Resilient Economies (INSPIRE) programme, a five-year initiative funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The role focuses on strengthening inclusive agricultural market systems, improving smallholder farmers' access to finance, markets, and agribusiness opportunities, and promoting climate-resilient livelihoods in the Busoga region.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and monitor inclusive market development activities within the assigned district.

• Support private sector actors, farmer groups, VSLAs, cooperatives, and SACCOs to develop and scale inclusive business models.

• Strengthen market linkages between farmers, financial institutions, agribusinesses, and government stakeholders.

• Build the capacity of farmer organizations through training, coaching, and technical support.

• Identify value-addition opportunities to improve market access and incomes for smallholder farmers.

• Monitor programme progress, collect data, and prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports.

• Represent GOAL Uganda in district coordination meetings and strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Sciences, Animal Husbandry, Development Economics, Rural Development, or a related field.

• Minimum 2 years' experience working with private sector actors and market development initiatives.

• Knowledge of SME financing and agricultural market systems.

• Ability to ride a motorcycle with a valid riding licence.

• Strong partnership management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting market systems development and inclusive business models.

• Knowledge of the agriculture sector and climate-resilient farming.

• Experience working with micro and small enterprises in a development setting.

• Familiarity with local languages spoken in the project area is an added advantage.
