Job Summary
The Head of Sales will lead Pesapal Uganda’s sales strategy, drive revenue growth, expand market share, and build strong customer relationships. This senior leadership role combines strategic oversight with hands-on leadership of the sales team, ensuring successful implementation of sales strategies and achievement of business goals.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sales Leadership
Develop and implement the country sales strategy aligned with business objectives.
Define annual and quarterly sales goals, targets, and KPIs across all products.
Monitor market trends and competitor activity to adapt strategies.
Conduct performance reviews and own sales forecasting and pipeline health.
Revenue Generation
Identify new market opportunities and develop strategies to acquire merchants/customers.
Expand Pesapal’s customer base and maintain long-term relationships.
Oversee execution of sales campaigns and evaluate the effectiveness of sales channels.
Collaborate with marketing to develop campaigns and lead-generation initiatives.
Merchant & Customer Relations Management
Lead negotiations for major contracts, partnerships, and deals.
Represent Pesapal at client meetings, industry events, and conferences.
Maintain oversight of strategic accounts and key partnerships.
Commercial Team Management
Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing sales team.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Set clear performance metrics and targets, provide ongoing guidance and feedback.
Sales Administration & Support
Streamline sales processes, identify bottlenecks, and support sales administration tasks.
Collaborate with legal, finance, and operations teams to resolve contractual or administrative issues.
Champion effective use of CRM and sales tools for pipeline tracking and forecasting.
Reporting
Monitor competitor activities, market trends, and industry developments.
Provide regular and accurate pipeline and sales performance insight to support strategic planning.
Must-Have Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field (MBA is an added advantage).
Minimum of 7 years’ experience with at least 3 years in senior sales leadership roles.
Proven track record of revenue growth and managing high-performance sales teams.
Strong knowledge of sales methodologies, market segmentation, and customer acquisition strategies.
Excellent negotiation, relationship-building, and presentation skills.
Proficiency in MS Office and CRM systems.
Fluency in written and spoken English.
