Grant Thornton Uganda is seeking an experienced Head of Risk, Quality & Compliance to provide strategic leadership in enterprise risk management, quality management, governance, and regulatory compliance. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will strengthen the firm's risk and quality frameworks while ensuring compliance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the firm's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework, including risk identification, assessment, and mitigation.
Oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of the System of Quality Management (ISQM).
Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, professional standards, and Grant Thornton International requirements.
Manage ethics, independence, client acceptance, and engagement risk management processes.
Strengthen governance frameworks, internal controls, and policy compliance across the firm.
Lead investigations into ethics, compliance, and misconduct matters.
Oversee business continuity, resilience, and incident management programs.
Promote a culture of quality, integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement through training and stakeholder engagement.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field.
Professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, CIA, or an equivalent certification.
Minimum 8 years' experience in risk management, governance, compliance, internal audit, quality management, or regulatory affairs, including 3 years in a management role.
Experience within a professional services firm or another highly regulated environment is an added advantage.
Strong knowledge of ISQM 1 & ISQM 2, International Standards on Auditing (ISA), the IESBA Code of Ethics, AML/CFT requirements, corporate governance, and enterprise risk management frameworks.
