UBA Uganda is seeking a Compliance Officer to support the bank's regulatory compliance framework by ensuring adherence to applicable laws, regulations, internal policies, and governance standards. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing compliance risk, regulatory reporting, AML/KYC oversight, and promoting a strong culture of compliance across the bank.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor regulatory changes and coordinate timely implementation of new requirements.
Develop, review, and update compliance policies, procedures, and frameworks.
Prepare and submit regulatory reports and serve as a liaison with regulators.
Identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks across the bank.
Conduct compliance monitoring, testing, and branch reviews.
Track audit findings and regulatory issues, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
Provide compliance and AML/KYC advisory support to business units.
Deliver compliance awareness and training programs for staff.
Prepare periodic reports on suspicious transactions, large cash transactions, and compliance exceptions.
Support regulatory inspections and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Banking & Finance, or a related discipline.
Professional compliance certification is an added advantage.
Minimum 3 years' banking experience in Operations, Audit, Compliance, or Internal Control.
Strong knowledge of banking operations, AML/CFT, KYC, and regulatory requirements.
Excellent analytical, investigative, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage compliance risks and support governance initiatives.
