Business Development Manager – Bancassurance

Reporting to: Principal Officer – Bancassurance
Job Summary
Diamond Trust Bank Uganda is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive the growth of its bancassurance business. The role involves developing business strategies, managing bancassurance officers, ensuring regulatory compliance, and expanding client relationships to achieve sales targets in both life and non-life insurance products.
Key Responsibilities
Drive the growth of bancassurance business and achieve set sales targets.
Develop and implement sales strategies and insurance activation programs across multiple channels and the retail banking network.
Ensure regulatory compliance in line with internal and external insurance and financial industry standards.
Monitor and manage the performance of Bancassurance Officers to maximize productivity and achieve business objectives.
Oversee daily insurance operations, including selling and cross-selling products, updating risk details, and claims administration.
Contribute to achieving the full-year insurance sales budget through effective training programs.
Build new client relationships, maintain existing partnerships, and generate revenue.
Key Performance Indicators
Total Gross Premiums booked.
Number of new customers onboarded / New Accounts opened.
Zero compliance penalties and failures.
100% adherence to internal and external regulatory frameworks.
Customer retention.
Productivity of Bancassurance Officers per set performance targets.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Finance, Accounting, or Insurance).
Diploma in insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK) or a similar institute is an added advantage.
Certification of proficiency (CIU) issued by Uganda Insurance Institute.
Minimum 4 years’ experience in insurance covering underwriting, claims, finance, or regulatory matters.
Extensive knowledge of the financial services industry, specifically insurance and retail banking.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to manage large volumes of information and add value through management reporting.
